Improved Accessibility Support

Auralia and Musition feature improved accessibility and accommodations support for blind and low-vision students including screen readers, notation export to music xml (which can be opened in Musescore for braille panel or terminal use) and keyboard shortcuts for notation entry, playback and navigation. To enable music xml export for one of your students please get in touch.

Screen Readers

Screen readers allow blind and low-vision students to navigate and interact with www.auralia.cloud by reading text allowed and describing images. Common screen readers include JAWS, NVDA (Windows) and VoiceOver (Mac). Simply enable your preferred screen reader and then use the Tab key to move between items in Auralia & Musition.

Notation Export

Auralia & Musition allow you to export notation from any practice level, worksheet or assessment, and then import it into programs like Musescore where you can use the braille display feature or connect to a braille terminal. To enable music xml export for one of your students please get in touch. A typical workflow is:

  • Export the notation from an Auralia or Musition question by selecting the download button toward the top right of any displayed notation
  • Download Musescore (free) and import your notation file
  • Enable the braille display feature in Musescore

Keyboard Shortcuts

Auralia & Musition support keyboard shortcuts for both notation entry (rhythm value selections), playback, question submission and navigation. You can find the details here:
