Disabling GM Reset at Startup
When Auralia or Musition open, they attempts to open the soundcard MIDI device, and send it a ‘GM Reset’ command, to ready it for use. Generally, if this fails, then Auralia or Musition will report back an error message and continue on without sound. In some instances, poor quality or buggy soundcard drivers can cause lockups or crashes.
You can easily disable the ‘GM Reset’:
- Find your ini file – it’s in the parent directory to the database folder
- Open the file and find the line
midi_gm_reset=true
- Change that line to be
midi_gm_reset=false
- Save the file and open Auralia or Musition again
