Mac database permission issues

When using OSX, you may receive permission errors such as those shown below when starting Auralia 4 or Musition 4.


Error message: operating system directive open failed – permission denied error opening database

To resolve these please open the Terminal application (Applications -> Utilities) and run the following commands. You will need to enter your password.

  • sudo chown firebird /Library/Application\ Support/Rising\ Software/data4/rising4.fdb
  • sudo chgrp firebird /Library/Application\ Support/Rising\ Software/data4/rising4.fdb
  • chmod u+rw /Library/Application\ Support/Rising\ Software/data4/rising4.fdb
  • chmod g+rw /Library/Application\ Support/Rising\ Software/data4/rising4.fdb
  • chmod o+rw /Library/Application\ Support/Rising\ Software/data4/rising4.fdb
